Students infected with HIV shall not be denied enrollment in school. The Board shall not prevent an HIV infected student from participating in the continuation of the student’s education on the basis of HIV infection. The Murfreesboro City School Board accepts the responsibility for providing public education within the least restrictive environment to students infected with HIV. HIV-infected students will not be prevented from participating in the educational process solely based on the diagnosis, and the student’s educational program shall be restricted only to the extent necessary to minimize the risk of disease transmission.
Mandatory screening for communicable diseases not spread by casual everyday contact, such as HIV infection, shall not be a condition for school entry or attendance.
