Scales Zapple Winners "Students at Scales Elementary proudly display their 'Zapple Apple Dapple' award prizes."
Some students at Scales Elementary are being rewarded for making nutritious food choices and displaying good behavior during breakfast serving time in the cafeteria. Ms. Belindia Gaines, Physical Education teacher, and Ms. Phyllis Carr-Curry, the cafeteria manager, developed the 'Zapple Apple Dapple' program at Scales to encourage students to practice good behavior and food choices during breakfast. Healthy Edge Training Healthy Edge Murfreesboro City School Nutrition employees joined with Rutherford County School Nutrition to participate in “Healthy Edge” training December 5-6, 2008. Employees that participated in the training received professional development credits in an effort to become certified with the School Nutrition Association (SNA). Kay Elder and Gloria Chaney, cafeteria assistants at Erma Siegel Elementary joined Janet Oakley, Nancy Colvin, and JoCarole Woodall from the School Nutrition Central Office for a two day interactive training. “Healthy Edge” is a training designed to educate School Nutrition Professionals about nutrition, marketing the school nutrition program, and customer service.
The training encourages participants to take the “Healthy Edge” content into classrooms as well for student education. (Read Full Article)
