MCS News Update

Dr. Linda Gilbert, Director of Murfreesboro City Schools, announces the appointment of key individuals in leadership positions effective immediately.

Laurie Offutt will be appointed the Coordinator of Instructional Effectiveness and Assessment for Murfreesboro City Schools. Offutt assumes this position after serving as the principal of Reeves-Rogers since 2014 when the school reopened as a traditional elementary campus. Offutt received her Bachelor’s Degree from Western Kentucky University, her Masters and EdS degrees from MTSU and is currently working on her doctorate studies.

Kimberly Osborne has been appointed Principal for Reeves-Rogers Elementary. Osborne currently serves as the Assistant Principal at Reeves-Rogers and served as the Assistant Principal for Hobgood Elementary since 2012. Previously, Osborne served as the district numeracy coach in Metro-Nashville Public Schools. Osborne has conducted extensive professional development in STEM, classroom management, and teaching strategies. She has served as a state math trainer, a member of Houghton Mifflin’s Elementary Science Tennessee Teacher Advisory Board, and was a member of the MNPS/Vanderbilt Leadership Academy. She received her Bachelors, Masters, EdS and EdD degrees from MTSU.

Sia Phillips has been appointed Assistant Principal at Reeves-Rogers Elementary. Phillips most recently served as an academic coach for Murfreesboro City Schools. Previously, Phillips served as a third grade classroom teacher at John Pittard and Reeves-Rogers Elementary. Phillips has eleven years of experience including serving as an ESL teacher prior to joining Murfreesboro City Schools. She received her Bachelors, Masters and EdS in Curriculum and Instruction from MTSU.

These leaders will join the existing leadership team of Murfreesboro City Schools as the district moves forward in creating an environment of success for each of our 8,400 school children.
