Loughrys Honored by City Schools Foundation

Ed and Andrea Loughry join an elite group of civic leaders to be honored by The City Schools Foundation for their support of public education at the 9th Annual Excellence in Education Celebration on Feb 5, 2016.

Ed Loughry is a 6th generation native of Murfreesboro. Ed is a graduate of Central High School and the University of Tennessee. His banking career spans 50 years. Ed is a long time member of the Christy-Houston Foundation Board where he has served as chairman.

Andrea Loughry has taught on the secondary and college level. She left her tenured position at MTSU to start a full service independent insurance agency, Miller-Loughry-Beach Insurance Services. Over the last several years, Andrea has focused on higher education governance and foundation leadership including positions on the UT Board of Trustees, UT Foundation, and MTSU Foundation. Currently, she sits on the Jones Foundation and Siegel Foundation boards along with the Tennessee Arts Commission.

Former honorees include Tommy and Jeannie Bragg, Dr. Sidney and Elizabeth McPhee, Dr. Susan Andrews, John Hood, Rhea Seddon and “Hoot” Gibson, Gloria and Ted LaRoche, Joyce Taylor and Bart Gordon.

This yearʼs event will highlight the numerous cultures now represented in Murfreesboro City Schools. Reservations for the Celebration are now available including individual tickets at $250 and sponsorships beginning at $1,500.

Discover the world during the Celebration as various cuisines and entertainment are highlighted throughout the evening.

The event will spotlight Black Fox Elementary on its 25th year anniversary. Black Fox Elementary boasts over 800 students and is located on S. Rutherford Blvd. Joe Thompson, Principal and Beverly Johnson, Assistant Principal serve as the administrative team for the school.

Hosting organization, The City Schools Foundation, is a group of civic and business leaders banding together to benefit Murfreesboro City Schoolsʼ pre-Kindergarten through sixth grade students.

The gala will be held at Stones River Country Club. Chairs for the event are Ben and Maggie Parsley.
