The City of Murfreesboro, in need of a new elementary school, purchased 25 acres of land on Thompson Lane from Mr. Richard siegel. Mr. Siegel later donated 19.5 additional acres for the school's campus. The city showed its gratitude by naming the school in memory of Mr. Siegel's mother, Erma. Construction of Erma Siegel Elementary School began in 1997. Eager students, faculty members, staff, and administrators entered the doors to the school on July 27, 1998. Mr. Siegel's generous gift will truly touch the lives of many people for years to come.

This SACS (Southern Association of Colleges and Schools) accredited school combines the best practices approach to prepare today's students to contribute to a productive future. The founding principal is Mrs. Barbara Tuckson. The founding Assistant Principal is Mrs. Mary Rose Stracener.
