What is the 6th grade band?
Band is an elective music class offered during school hours.
In band, students learn to play the flute, clarinet, saxophone,
trumpet, trombone, baritone or percussion. No experience
is necessary.
Why should I join the band?
Learning to play an instrument has many benefits. Studies have shown that students who play musical instruments often have higher scores on college entrance exams, often receive college scholarships, and are less likely to
use drugs.
In band, students will:
Learn to read music.
Express themnselves musically and develop musical talents.
Discover the importance of self-discipline through individual practice.
Learn how to be a contributing member of a group.
Gain more self-confidence.
