CLA Mission Statement:

It is the mission of Cason Lane Academy to provide all students with the skills needed for a lifetime of learning, economic success, and good citizenship.

Belief Statements:

These are the beliefs the Instructional, Support Staff and Parents decided were most important to us at CLA. We will use these beliefs to guide us in making decisions about our school and for our students.

1. We believe in providing the students with a variety of activities with which to learn and to apply knowledge. We will actively involve students in the learning process by instruction, coaching, seminaring, and tutoring.

2. We believe in designing lesson plans that integrate all learning styles and meet individual needs. We will incorporate activities that address differences in learning styles by modifying instruction to meet individual needs, which will positively promote a child's self-worth.

3. We believe in carefully assessing each student in order to develop each child's potential to the fullest. We will evaluate students with a variety of assessment tools and techniques to determine their current levels of functioning. We will set goals for instruction, give feedback to students and parents to monitor their own progress, and reflect on teaching practices.

4. We believe in involving parents and the community in a supportive, "shared role" capacity. We will invite feedback from parents, students, and the community in order to help evaluate our school's focus and progress. We will seek and utilize volunteers as guest speakers, mentors, tutors, adopters, and/or supportive aides as "partners in education".

5. We believe in encouraging positive and respectful relationships that are necessary for lifelong success. We will integrate and model character education in our daily teaching to help instill the good habits and dispositions that lead to positive relationships, responsible adulthood, good citizenship, and lifelong success.

6. We believe in promoting on-campus, after-school programs to help children reach their potentials. We will promote an after-school program that encourages students to realize their abilities in a variety of activities, such as fine arts, athletics, academics, as well as social and recreational skills.

Vision Statement:

"Improving lives through education, one student at a time."

Philosophy:

CLA uses the Paideia philosophy. The faculty and stakeholders accept the following broad goals for our "community of learners". The three common goals of schooling as defined by the Paideia Group are for all children to earn a living in an intelligent and responsible fashion, to function as intelligent and responsible citizens and to make both of these things serve the purpose of leading intelligent and responsible lives -to enjoy as fully as possible all the goods that make a human life as good as it can be."
