BLACK FOX ELEMENTARY
Black Fox Elementary School located in the southeastern part of Murfreesboro, opened in the fall of 1990 as the eighth school in the Murfreesboro system. Black Fox currently has an enrollment of 742 students in grades kindergarten through sixth. The students are drawn from diverse socioeconomic backgrounds and diverse cultural and ethnic backgrounds.
The staff of Black Fox includes a principal and assistant principal, 36 classroom teachers, one ESL teacher, two special education teachers, two Reading Recovery teachers, two literacy coaches, six special area teachers, a guidance counselor, nineteen educational assistants, and three mid-day assistants.
Black Fox offers:
- A Title I program, which provides technology-based instruction for qualifying students.
- Triton Learning Grant, which enables the school to offer homework classes, supervised by certified teachers as well as academic tutoring to students who need additional help. Other fun and enriching activities such as dance, keyboarding, sports, art, and recreational games are offered to all students who attend. The grant allows children to attend these after school programs free of charge for a reduced rate.
- A competitive boys and girls basketball program.
- An active student council.
- A mentoring program that involves approximately 50 people working with our students.
- An adoption agreement with the M.T.S.U. football team.
- A full time social worker.
- An on-going character luncheon program that recognizes approximately 150 students each year.
- ALOHA, “Accelerated Learning Opportunities for High Achievement” program in ESP.
- A recycle team made up of sixth grade students.
