Don Bartch

Assistant Principal Don Bartch has been named Principal at Scales Elementary.  Dr. Linda Gilbert, Director of Murfreesboro City Schools, announced Monday the appointment of Don Bartch as Principal replacing Catherine Stephens.

Bartch has served as Assistant Principal at Scales since the school’s opening in 2005 and has been a vital part of the school’s success. Prior to joining Murfreesboro City Schools, Bartch taught at Christiana Middle School in Rutherford County and North Pike High School in Summit, MS.

“Mr. Bartch understands the vision of this school district and its focus on children.  He has the respect of the faculty and will ensure student success.  I look forward to the contributions he will make to Murfreesboro City’s professional learning community,” says Gilbert.

Scales is largest school in the Murfreesboro City School district and is projected to enroll over 1,100 students for the 2012-13 school year.  In addition to a new principal, students and teachers will begin their new year with four new classrooms.

“I am looking forward to the next page in the story of Scales Elementary,” says Bartch.  “As a former football coach, I always encourage individuals to look for areas of improvement and not become complacent. We have a strong team at Scales and I look forward to the years ahead.”

Bartch received his Bachelor and Master of Education degrees from Harding University in Searcy, AR.  He received his Administration Certification from Middle Tennessee State University.

Bartch, his wife, Lea and their three children reside in Murfreesboro.
