MCS Mass Choir

Murfreesboro City Schools will host its 3rd Annual MCS Festival Choir concert March 7th at 3:30pm in the Erma Siegel Elementary School Gymnasium. The Festival choir is a free choral experience featuring students from all 12 Murfreesboro City Schools. The concert is organized and planned by the music teachers of each school. Teachers began planning the event in early September and commenced rehearsing with their students the first week of January in preparation for the show. The number of expected students participating this year is over 250. The performers are selected from each school by their music teachers based on many criteria including musicality, pitch and intonation. John Pittard Elementary Music Teacher Valerie Rains states, “This is an opportunity students look forward to each year. The students are celebrating Music in Our Schools Month and the music they will be singing is a mix of many songs and cultures. This is a beautiful experience for them. Music teaches everyone not simply to listen to music but to experience it.” Guests can also expect to experience an amazing performance from the music teachers and Pittard’s Steel de Boro as they accompany the students during selected pieces.

All parents, family and friends are encouraged to attend this Festival Choir concert. Don’t forget to mark your calendars and come enjoy the show.
